In the afternoon, I hopped in a tuktuk and made my way to San Juan La Laguna. There, I hiked up to Mirador Kaqasiiwaan, a scenic viewpoint that offers sweeping views of the lake and surrounding volcanoes. The climb was well worth it for the panoramic vistas. San Juan is also famous for its colorful murals, which depict Mayan legends and local life, and for its thriving community of Mayan artisans. (48 photos)
